GENERAL or LIST INTERCESSOR
GENERAL or LIST INTERCESSOR
Some Characteristics:
- These prayer warriors love using prayer lists and never seem to get bored with them!
- They tend to be more disciplined and do not depend on a special unction to come upon them to engage in their task.
- Their passion for structure brings freedom for themselves, encouragement for others and the reward of perseverance from above.
- They tend to be more effective when praying independently.
- They can spend hours praying Scriptures over those the Lord has assigned to them.
Some Pitfalls:
- Believing there is no other way to pray while modeling this type of prayer in corporate settings.
- Becoming judgmental toward those who deviate from the list.
- Allowing their lists to be so important that they miss what is on the Father's heart at the moment -- especially in corporate prayer meetings.
- Experiencing condemnation and frustration when their lists are too long to get through during prayer time.
ARE you a general or list intercessor?
- Do you find freedom in structure?
- Would regimented prayer inhibit or release you?
- Have you recorded the dates of your prayer requests?
- Do you pray over the same people consistently?
- When called to pray for someone, do you start by making a list?
- Can you identify with Ezra’s love for lists and details?

NEWS ALERT:Intercession opportunity for August 13th and 14th
Prayer Mountain set for Mount Ashland in August
ASHLAND — Almost 200 years ago, the Northwest’s Christian roots were established as a response to what some historians term a “Macedonian Call of the West.” In answer to a trek that several Nez Perce and Flathead Indians made to St. Louis, Mo., in search of the “Book of Heaven,” Jason Lee and other missionaries brought the message of the Bible to what eventually became the Oregon Country. That portion of the region’s history will be re-enacted — and also will inspire efforts to involve modern-day Native tribal representatives — as a major regional prayer gathering for revival in the Pacific North-west takes place atop Mount Ashland in Southern Oregon next month. The second Prayer Mountain Northwest will be held Friday evening through 5 p.m. Saturday Aug. 13 and 14.
“Our expectation is that God is going to answer those who come together to pray,” said Denny Stahl, pastor of Calvary Chapel in Grants Pass and one of the event organizers.
Joining Stahl in the planning group is Dennis Dickson of Grants Pass; both were pastoring churches in Bend when Dickson organized the first Prayer Mountain Northwest in 2004. That event drew about 800 participants to Mount Bachelor in Central Oregon.
Dickson and Stahl agree that a larger and spiritually significant gathering could well be in the works for this second event.
“The aim is to petition heaven to get involved in the things of earth, with a specific focus on the Northwest,” said Dickson.
The organizers note Mount Ashlands easy accessibility off Interstate 5 and say participants could come from as far away as Seattle, or San Francisco and Sacramento, Calif. Dickson said the event will have no prominent names speaking or leading the event, but will be a humble declaration of the region’s need for revival.
“There will be one personality, and it will be Jesus,” he said.
Stahl said one reason the event could be impacting spiritually is that it will deliberately seek to involve representatives of Native tribes. The goal is to extend love and reconciliation to the region’s indigenous peoples, humbly acknowledging wrongs committed over the years to the tribes as increased non-Native settlement took place.
That kind of reconciliation could truly open the door for a move of the Holy Spirit in the Northwest, Stahl said. “We believe there is only one way that God can bring forth fruit, is that the branches are connected to the roots,” he said.
The event is endorsed by the Salem-based Oregon Prayer Network headed by Madeleine Spalding, and by ROAR (Reviving Oregon’s Amazing Roots), a ministry headed by Aaron Auer and John Sutton (see related story on Page 1) that seeks to call fresh attention to the region’s Christian heritage. Auer and Sutton will be among those who stage a re-enactment of the “Macedonian Call of the West” Friday to help open the prayer event.
For the 24 hours running from Friday evening through Saturday, prayer and praise will be offered in shifts that will allow participants to pray both corporately and privately.
A promotional web site, prayermountainnw.org, has been set up. A promotional DVD also will soon be available. For more information, phone Calvary Chapel of Grants Pass, 541-476-6827.

7 Mountains of Influence
About a year ago I heard Dr. Lance Wallnau speak on the 7 Mountains Mandate. You can see the video on YouTube here:
The experience I had listening to him was like the 1st time saw Bill Johnson speak in 2004, my mouth fell open and I thought to myself, “Wow, what did he just say!” Very deep intelligent men of God.
So why am I bringing this up here on an Intercession Website? Because I believe that these Seven Mountains are part of what we need to be interceding for here in our region for breakthrough revival and habitation.
The original mandate was given to Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade and Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth with a Mission in 1979 by the Lord. The message was that if we, Christian, are to impact any nation for Jesus Christ, then we would have to affect the seven spheres, or mountains of society that are the pillars of any society.
These seven mountains are:
1) Business
2) Government
3) Media
4) Arts
5) Education
6) The Family
7) Religion/Church
On a local level, Southern Oregon, the same holds true. As time goes on, I’ll bring more on these and try to catch News Articles related to these seven mountains so that we can be praying with understanding and strategies targeting these areas of our culture. Honestly I don’t know what that is going to look like, but I’m open to any of your comments or weblinks that might point us in the right direction.

What is a Good Definition of Intercessor?
I love to do word studies from the scriptures and read/listen to what other Christians say about how they interpret a word. But I’ve found the word Intercessor to be a bit elusive. Sure I can look it up in Strongs (KJ), Vines or any number of Bible Dictionaries but what does it really mean to those who say they are intercessors & those who say they aren’t an intercessor?
From my own stand point I never wanted to be an intercessor because I believed the ones I knew were always depressed or at the very least oppressed. They often saw into the spirit realm but it sounded like it was mostly the demonic. I don’t like being sad & in general have a sunny disposition. I did/do believe that to be an Intercessor you need to be called by the Lord & want to walk in this gifting, like any one of the spiritual gifts. We are all called to intercession & to intercede (1 Tim 2:1). Personally I have reaped the benefits of having intercessors pray for me that is still true today because I have a personal intercessor that prays & intercedes for me daily.
My perceptions started to change (slowly) about 4-5 years ago when I heard Bill Johnson, Senior Pastor for Bethel Church in Redding California say, “My wife Beni is a Sign & Wonder, she is a Happy Intercessor.” (This is now a book written by Beni Johnson.) There was something in me that responded very positively to this remark, even though I was skeptical. The Lord started bringing other very positive & happy intercessors into my life. There was a spark of recognition for me that said, this is a spiritual gift that I was called too. Is there sadness at times? Yes. Do I see into the demonic world at times? Yes. But in general, because I start out with Praise & Worship of the “King of Kings & Lord of Lords” the experience of intercession is a positive for me.
How about you? Do you have a definition for Intercessor? Are you an Intercessor? How do you describe your calling? I invite you to comment or tell us about your experiences with intercession.

Introduction To This Blog
I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you why I started this blog. My name is Shari Warren and I live in Southern Oregon.
Two years ago I started an email list called Prophetic Intercessors Network of Southern Oregon because at the Church I attend we were hearing Prophetic Words being spoken over our area and Oregon from as far away as New Zealand. I felt that these Prophetic Words needed to be prayed through by our regions intercessors.
We had 25 intercessors and we saw some movement toward fulfillment of those Prophetic Words but not near what was spoken. You can read the Prophetic Words in the link provided. Then the list server I was using decided to charge money on a monthly basis. So it was time to change the way we were doing things.
I had been praying for quite some time and felt the Lord was moving me toward using a blog. I knew that blogging was probably the best way to communicate with other intercessors in our region. Since I'm new to blogging (as you probably are too) please be patient with me.
As I've prayed about this ministry I see its potential to draw our intercessors together in united prayer; to pray-in the Lord's revival and His habitation into our region; to break strongholds of the enemy and curses over our land. To do this we as a praying/interceding people need to be informed of the issues, then the Lord will give us revelation, wisdom and strategies so that we can pray together in faith, authority and power.
Dan 10:12 Then he (the angel) said to me, "Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your mind and heart to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words (intercession) were heard, and I have come as a consequences of [and in response to] your words."AMP
1 Tim 2: I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. NIV
Goals of this blog:
- The major focus will be Southern Oregon, but at times will include the state of Oregon and the United States as those issues affect us in our area.
- Have a place where intercessors can access information about ongoing Intercessory Groups that pray for our region and are open to all intercessors to attend their meetings.
- To unify the intercessors and prayer warriors that want to intercede for our region.
- To provide a list of coming Events where all intercessors are invited to attend and participate.
- To notify intercessors of current and future issues in our region that needs our intercession.
- To encourage individual intercessors and to provide a community for those intercessors that feel isolated.
- Provide articles related to intercession, testimonies of answered intercession, discussion/comments section, book reviews on intercession/prayer and website links.
- A place to get individual prayer or request prayer for other individuals. There are lots of places that provide this so if that is what you need please feel free to email me and I'll give you links.
- A place to vent about your particular issue if it is off topic. I do encourage good honest opinions even if they don't agree with mine. No flaming or bad verbal behavior.
- A place to uncover Christian leaders or pastors, to reveal personal issues or sin; this is not a gossip blog in the guise of prayer and intercession.
