7 Mountains of Influence
About a year ago I heard Dr. Lance Wallnau speak on the 7 Mountains Mandate. You can see the video on YouTube here:
The experience I had listening to him was like the 1st time saw Bill Johnson speak in 2004, my mouth fell open and I thought to myself, “Wow, what did he just say!” Very deep intelligent men of God.
So why am I bringing this up here on an Intercession Website? Because I believe that these Seven Mountains are part of what we need to be interceding for here in our region for breakthrough revival and habitation.
The original mandate was given to Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade and Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth with a Mission in 1979 by the Lord. The message was that if we, Christian, are to impact any nation for Jesus Christ, then we would have to affect the seven spheres, or mountains of society that are the pillars of any society.
These seven mountains are:
1) Business
2) Government
3) Media
4) Arts
5) Education
6) The Family
7) Religion/Church
On a local level, Southern Oregon, the same holds true. As time goes on, I’ll bring more on these and try to catch News Articles related to these seven mountains so that we can be praying with understanding and strategies targeting these areas of our culture. Honestly I don’t know what that is going to look like, but I’m open to any of your comments or weblinks that might point us in the right direction.

What is a Good Definition of Intercessor?
I love to do word studies from the scriptures and read/listen to what other Christians say about how they interpret a word. But I’ve found the word Intercessor to be a bit elusive. Sure I can look it up in Strongs (KJ), Vines or any number of Bible Dictionaries but what does it really mean to those who say they are intercessors & those who say they aren’t an intercessor?
From my own stand point I never wanted to be an intercessor because I believed the ones I knew were always depressed or at the very least oppressed. They often saw into the spirit realm but it sounded like it was mostly the demonic. I don’t like being sad & in general have a sunny disposition. I did/do believe that to be an Intercessor you need to be called by the Lord & want to walk in this gifting, like any one of the spiritual gifts. We are all called to intercession & to intercede (1 Tim 2:1). Personally I have reaped the benefits of having intercessors pray for me that is still true today because I have a personal intercessor that prays & intercedes for me daily.
My perceptions started to change (slowly) about 4-5 years ago when I heard Bill Johnson, Senior Pastor for Bethel Church in Redding California say, “My wife Beni is a Sign & Wonder, she is a Happy Intercessor.” (This is now a book written by Beni Johnson.) There was something in me that responded very positively to this remark, even though I was skeptical. The Lord started bringing other very positive & happy intercessors into my life. There was a spark of recognition for me that said, this is a spiritual gift that I was called too. Is there sadness at times? Yes. Do I see into the demonic world at times? Yes. But in general, because I start out with Praise & Worship of the “King of Kings & Lord of Lords” the experience of intercession is a positive for me.
How about you? Do you have a definition for Intercessor? Are you an Intercessor? How do you describe your calling? I invite you to comment or tell us about your experiences with intercession.
